How it works

Why Vitamin D matters for fatty liver

Research suggests over half of Indian adults are Vitamin D deficient — and the rate is even higher among people with fatty liver. Low Vitamin D levels are associated with worse insulin resistance, more liver inflammation, and slower recovery.

Correcting Vitamin D deficiency may help improve how your body handles sugar (insulin sensitivity) and reduce inflammatory markers in the liver. It's not a treatment for fatty liver by itself, but fixing the deficiency removes one barrier to recovery.

We include 1,000 IU in every Libertia capsule product because the deficiency is so common that almost every Indian fatty liver patient benefits from supplementation.

Part of The 4-System Protocol™ In the Libertia range, Vitamin D is part of "System 4: Replace what's missing" — correcting the nutrient deficiencies that are common in fatty liver patients.

Food interactions

Foods that help or hinder absorption

Foods that help (take WITH these): Any fat-containing food: ghee, oil, butter, nuts, eggs, full-fat dahi. The fat doesn't need to be high — a normal Indian meal is sufficient.
Be careful with these: No foods interfere with Vitamin D absorption. If you're taking a separate high-dose Vitamin D supplement (e.g. 60,000 IU weekly prescribed by your doctor), check your total D3 intake — you may not need the additional 1,000 IU from Libertia.

Sun exposure also produces Vitamin D, but in India, sunscreen use, indoor lifestyles, and dark skin tones mean most people don't get enough from sunlight alone.

How long to take it

Duration of use

Indefinite. Vitamin D deficiency requires ongoing supplementation in most Indian adults, especially those who work indoors. 1,000 IU daily is a maintenance dose safe for years of use.

Who should avoid it

Situations where this ingredient is not appropriate

Hypercalcaemia: If you have abnormally high blood calcium levels, additional Vitamin D could make it worse. This is rare but important — your doctor would typically know if this applies to you.

Sarcoidosis or other granulomatous diseases: These conditions can cause abnormal Vitamin D processing. Consult your doctor before supplementing.

Severe kidney disease: Your kidneys activate Vitamin D. In severe kidney disease, regular Vitamin D may not work properly — your doctor may prescribe the activated form (calcitriol) instead.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about Vitamin D3

Is 1,000 IU enough?+
For maintenance, 1,000 IU daily is sufficient for most adults. If your blood test shows severe deficiency (below 20 ng/mL), your doctor may prescribe a higher loading dose (e.g. 60,000 IU weekly) for 8–12 weeks first, then switch to 1,000 IU for maintenance.
I'm already taking a Vitamin D supplement. Should I stop?+
Check your total daily intake. If your doctor prescribed 60,000 IU weekly (common in India), the additional 1,000 IU from Libertia is usually fine. But tell your doctor so they can monitor your blood levels and avoid over-supplementation.
Can I get enough from sunlight?+
In theory, 15–20 minutes of direct sunlight on bare arms and face produces about 1,000 IU. In practice, most Indians don't get this consistently due to indoor lifestyles, sunscreen, pollution, and darker skin tones (which require more sun exposure to produce the same amount of D3).
