How it works
What makes Siliphos different from standard milk thistle
Standard milk thistle extract (silymarin) contains several active compounds. Silybin is the most potent one — making up about 60–70% of silymarin. Siliphos® isolates just silybin and wraps it in a phospholipid layer for dramatically better absorption.
Published pharmacokinetic studies suggest Siliphos® delivers approximately 10× more silybin to your bloodstream than an equivalent amount of standard silymarin extract. This means 400mg of Siliphos® may provide more liver protection than 600mg of standard silymarin.
This is why Libertia Pro uses a lower milligram number than Classic for the milk thistle component — the lower number on the label actually means more active ingredient reaching your liver.
Part of The 4-System Protocol™ In Libertia Pro, Siliphos® plays the "System 1: Protect and repair liver cells" role — delivering silybin to your liver cells at levels standard extracts cannot match.
When to take it
Best timing for maximum benefit
🍽️
With food containing fat (best)
The phospholipid layer is fat-based, so dietary fat further improves absorption. Any normal meal works.
🔄
Split across two meals
Pro is taken twice daily. One capsule with breakfast, one with your biggest meal.
⏰
Missed a dose?
Take with your next meal. Don't double up.
Food interactions
Foods that help or hinder absorption
Foods that help (take WITH these): Any fat-containing food improves absorption. Normal Indian meals with oil, ghee, or dahi are sufficient.
Be careful with these: Grapefruit juice may alter processing. No other significant food interactions known at this dose.
Tea, coffee, and alcohol do not significantly affect Siliphos absorption.
If you take any of these medicines, talk to your doctor first
Statins (atorvastatin, simvastatin)
Silybin may mildly affect how your liver processes certain statins. Your doctor may want to monitor or consider rosuvastatin as an alternative.
Low — mention to doctor
Diabetes medicines
Silybin may have mild blood-sugar-lowering properties. Monitor your sugar levels in the first few weeks if you're on diabetes medication.
Low — monitor sugar
Warfarin / blood thinners
Silybin may mildly affect clotting. If on warfarin, your doctor should check INR more frequently initially.
Low — monitor INR
What you might experience
Uncommon (1 in 30+)
Mild stomach discomfort — less common than with standard silymarin because the phytosome form is gentler on the gut.
Rare
Headache, mild laxative effect, or skin rash. Stop and see your doctor if rash occurs.
How long to take it
Duration of use
Used as part of the Pro 6–12 month course. After sustained improvement, step down to Renew or Lite (which use standard silymarin).
Note: Siliphos® has been studied for up to 12 months in published trials with good tolerability.
Who should avoid it
Situations where this ingredient is not appropriate
Do NOT take if: Confirmed soy allergy. The phospholipid layer is soy-derived.
Soy allergy: Siliphos® uses soy-derived phospholipids. If you have a soy allergy, use Libertia Classic (standard silymarin, no soy) instead.
Pregnant or breastfeeding: Limited data. Consult your obstetrician.
Asteraceae allergy: Silybin comes from milk thistle, which is in the daisy family. If you're allergic to ragweed, daisies, or marigolds, consult your doctor.

Frequently asked questions
Common questions about Silybin Phytosome
Why does Pro have less milligrams of milk thistle than Classic?+
Because Siliphos® absorbs approximately 10× better per milligram. 400mg of Siliphos® delivers more silybin to your liver than 600mg of standard silymarin in Classic. The lower number on the label means more active ingredient reaching your liver — not less.
I have a soy allergy. What's my alternative?+
Libertia Classic uses standard silymarin extract (no soy) at 600mg daily, paired with BioPerine for absorption. It's the soy-free Tier 3 option.
Is silybin the same as silymarin?+
Silybin is one compound within silymarin. Silymarin is the full extract containing several flavonolignans — silybin, silychristin, silydianin, and others. Silybin is the most active and most studied of these, making up about 60–70% of the mix. Siliphos® isolates just silybin for maximum potency.
