What kutki does for your liver
Kutki (Picrorhiza kurroa) grows in the Himalayas at altitudes above 3,000 metres. It has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for liver conditions for centuries — long before modern science understood why it works.
Modern research has identified its active compounds — kutkoside and picroside (together called kutkin) — which appear to protect liver cells through anti-inflammatory and antioxidant mechanisms that are distinct from milk thistle. This means kutki and milk thistle complement each other rather than duplicating the same action.
We include kutki in 4 out of 5 capsule products because it adds a genuinely different protective pathway. It's not there as an Ayurvedic marketing ingredient — it's there because the pharmacology supports combining it with silymarin.

Kutki is very well tolerated at 100–200mg daily. Mild stomach discomfort has been occasionally reported. Allergic reactions are extremely rare. No serious side effects have been reported in published studies at these doses.
Duration of use
Can be taken long-term at 100–200mg daily. Kutki has a long history of traditional use spanning centuries. Modern studies up to 12 weeks have not shown safety concerns.
Situations where this ingredient is not appropriate
Pregnant or breastfeeding: Limited modern safety data during pregnancy. Consult your obstetrician.
Autoimmune conditions: Due to potential immune-modulating effects, people with autoimmune diseases should consult their doctor before taking kutki.
